Clubs & recreation
Outside of schoolwork and sports, students at Santa Clara University can join in a bunch of other activities. The group on campus that arranges most of the events is the Center for Student Leadership. This group plans the big social events on campus such as concerts, sports rallies, and fundraisers. In addition to this group, Santa Clara University has different student groups and clubs. There are two big types of organizations.
The first is Chartered Student Organizations. There are nine of these on campus including the University’s newspaper, The Santa Clara, and its radio station, KSCU. KSCU provides students with learning opportunities in the field of broadcasting by allowing their students to operate all aspects of a radio station. That means that students get to choose what goes on the station during their program, as long as it reflects the mission and goals of Santa Clara University.
The second type of organization is the Registered Student Organizations and Clubs. There are 140 clubs including BroncoTV, The Music Connection, and the Snapshot Photography club. These are clubs that any student can create and they can be about any topic. One interesting club is the Santa Clara Clays. This club is for people who enjoy shooting sports, like they have in the Olympics, but it also teaches the importance of gun safety.
No matter what a student is interested in, they will find the right activity at Santa Clara University.
